United Nations Day

The world needs a peace maker that is common to all. In 1945, with this vision, representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco at the United Nations Conference on International Organization to draw up the United Nations Charter. This organization named “United Nations” officially came into existence on the 24th of October 1945 after the Charter was ratified by a majority of signatories.

The United Nations has six principal organs as, the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Trusteeship Council, the International Court of Justice, and the UN Secretariat for it to provide it’s main function which is peace among it’s members countries, dignity, and equality towards all. Also the system run by the UN also includes another set of specialized agencies, funds and programmes. World Bank Group, the World Health Organization, the World Food Programme, UNESCO and UNICEF falls under the UN system specialized agencies. In addition to that, non governmental organizations are granted consultative status with ECOSOC and other agencies to participate in the work that falls under the United Nations Organization.

The United Nations, and all the other agencies that falls under it, have won numerous Nobel Peace Prizes, though its of mixed evaluations on its effectiveness. The organizations is commonly considered to be an important force for peace and human development, which comes in handy at different time stages in the world. Since the day the organization was formed, the concepts such as peace and security, economic development, social development, human rights, environmental matters, international law, humanitarian affairs, and health has become its main focus. And the organization has acted wisely in numerous attempts where such affairs have come into existence.

The United Nations stands in to protect peace, dignity, and equality on a healthy planet. The organization concretely works toward people, acting to help everyone to reappropriate every corner of the world through interventions focusing on health, food aid, and most importantly peacemaking. All such is clarified by the organization’s motto “This is your world”. As this organization and its value need to be celebrated, on the 24th of October, on the anniversary of the UN Charter of 1945 people all over the world get together naming this day United Nations Day. Let us take this day of the year 2022 to consider the impact of immense value to every corner of the world given out by the United Nations Organization and wish the world be entitled to forever peace and health.
