“Technology can become the wings that will allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than ever before -if we will allow it.” – Jenny Arledge
The constant growth of technology keeps on changing our way of lives in a way that makes our lives much easier and also interesting in a way. In the past when it came to art usually computers, or any other form of technology did not come to our mind. Nowadays with the evolution with technology people in this era find new ways to create works of stunning art.
This evolution in art eventually led into more and more individuals craving into creating these types of artwork. Which in return, dominated the whole mainstream media and creative industry. However, it’s not very often that people are being taught these skills, it’s mostly a self-learning environment therefore, people still do struggle when going into this new field.
As both an IT university as well as a community service group, The Rotaract Club of IIT wanted to support this underappreciated community of digital artists. How? By introducing a new project known as ‘Creatik’.
Creatik was a month long project that consisted of 4 sessions, each session was dedicated to teaching the basics of softwares such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign and Adobe After Effects, which are known as the popular softwares in the multimedia industry. Each session was conducted by two instructors who are specialized in that particular field whether it be self-employed, freelancer, working in a organization or even as a lecturer; they all brought in their skill set and experience which made it a lively as well as an educational experience for all of us.
The organizing community of Creatik is also planning a career day for people to find new opportunities in the creative industry and not to consider mainstream career paths as their only options. This in return dilute saturated job opportunities and create career paths as freelancers which can be done by undergraduates while earning decent amount of money in their free times.
