CULTURAL BOX EXCHANGE
Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. It’s important to share culture because, as much as we know about each other, we still have a lot to learn. In my more cynical moments, I realize that it really is a matter of life and death. We’re exploring the stories of people who are moving across this world, and they have nothing. They’re leaving war. To think about it, culture is a way to sustain people in the worst times, and culture is a way to lift us up in our best times. Everyone’s culture changes from the way they were brought up to the things they learn. No matter what culture a people are a part of, one thing is for certain, it will change.
This is why, with two of our member’s visit to Malaysia we decided to have a cultural box exchange with the Rotaract Club of Stamford University in order to show them a glimpse of the culture we share here in Sri Lanka which is very diverse and different and to build a better friendship and bond within clubs from different countries in order to work together in making a bigger impact on this world.
