Suns out Guns out
In this era of technology, physical exercise has become somewhat of an elusive activity for many. While technology has certainly made human tasks much easier and invented many new hobbies and leisure activities, it has also had brought certain drawbacks on the lives of many.
On the fine morning of the 1st of October, at the scenic beach of Mount Lavinia, Rotaract clubs of Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) and Informatics Institute of Technology(IIT) joined hands in holding an innovative programme titled “Suns out Guns out” which emphasized the importance of physical activity on behalf of interested students from both the institutes. By this programme, it was also intended to develop a better bonding and fellowship between the two clubs.
The entire programme was composed of numerous physical activities, training and awareness sessions. The programme began with a fitness session of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Afterwards, various physically demanding sports such as Rugby, Football and Mixed Martial Arts were taught to the participants by Rotaractors who had organized the event. Following these activities, a fellowship beach run and a swim involving participants from both institutes were held. Thereafter, the event was wrapped up following the conclusion of a series of water-based activities.
The event, while provided its participants various new experiences and awareness about various physical activities, helped to improve the fellowship between the Rotaract clubs of IIT and IIHE. Thus, an evening which began with a series of physical activities, ended in a great note of contentment and camaraderie.
